The other day was an election day, when World Devotees may officially register their preference for the bully they think will make things good. I was at a polling location and I won't detail the circumstances but one of the poll volunteers at the front table discovered in that setting that I was a follower of Christ with some authoritative function (totally unrelated to the polling activity there, by the way). I didn't know her but we got to talking, and she shared quite a bit. From the heart. Just a quick note about my last post from a couple days ago.  I'd mentioned the catastrophic floods in central Texas with no intention of sharing that just to make a metaphor for some great spiritual truth. I'd even mentioned that in the blog post, even though I did talk about things related to simply not being prepared when it could very well be the case we could be. That severe weather event there could have been something that was indeed just a freak meteorological incident and all the warnings in the world could not have prevented the tragedy. There is so much to understand regarding that. I'd also heard, however, that there were protocols that could have been activated but were not, and because of that many lives could have been saved simply by having a more rigorous effort to evacuate when they could. Thought I'd add a few more thoughts about my recent post and our visit to the "Magic Kingdom." I'd riffed a bit on the meaning of the whole Disney dominion and how it is merely part of the System's enslavement, as fun, exhilarating, and yes, enchanting it is to enjoy it all. I really like the things that Miss Just-An-Artist-Questioning has put out. Wonderfully simple truths illustrated. This one features someone trapped in the thorns of lethal lies. There's a show on the NBC network called American Greed . Every episode showcases some crook who'd spent years hoodwinking a whole bunch of people, separating them from gobs of their money in sometimes very insidiously imaginative ways. The show's appeal also comes with the inevitable instances when they do something tremendously stupid leading to their prosecution in some form or another. It is certainly greed that is involved, but a far worse crime is the deeper motivating force: pride. This is the idea that virtue-signaling out of one's rear end is too intoxicating never mind what kinds of immoralities must be in the mix to do that. Recently the head of a crypto exchange was exposed as his multi-billion dollar money laundering operation went belly-up. I am a bit of a sports fan -- well, more of a fan of particular sports teams.  I've been a San Francisco Giants fan since my first attended game as a kid in 1971. Mays and McCovey, even Dietz and Fuentes and Speier were my heroes. I've also been a rabid Kansas City Chiefs fan since my forebears settled and thrived for years in Kansas. Yeah, this does involve a bit of appreciation for what the particular sport itself is, but my impassioned fandom requires me to temper my attention. I work at least modestly successfully to maintain what I call a sports celibacy,  just looking at nothing about it all. To be honest it is serving me pretty well right now. Driving to Phoenix from the Los Angeles area we were on the 10 and I paid closer attention to something that I'd seen before, but I just wanted to get an idea of the magnitude of this particular thing. The drive is pretty dry, really, because most of it is through barren desert, but the construction of the freeway itself is quite fascinating. It is elevated. I'm sure long ago they built this freeway, likely the same as many others, there just flat -- nice and flat and spiffy and... about to be destroyed . See, literally every 100 to 200 feet in some places, are little bridges you'd barely notice if you weren't watching. This time I was watching, and I was impressed by how stinkin' many of them there actually were. Little bridges over arroyos, gulches, canyons, washes -- any place where water will go . The recent thread of these blog posts has included an introduction to the concept pathodicy , the firm consideration that I must have my negative feelings about another's suffering addressed by employing government force to fix that suffering just so I can feel better. It is the main reason the leftist social agenda is marauding through our country right now, the reason it has  ever eviscerated the lives and livelihoods of so many.
