Wonderful Matters

One of my favorite film characters is Napoleon Dynamite. He is viciously authentic, idiosyncratically imaginative, fastidiously cynical, yet wants to enjoy the most meaningful relationships even with his bullying detractors however grudgingly. How joyfully engaging is his support of Pedro as he tries to win that election. How bountifully sincere is his friendship with Deb, with Alphaville's "Forever Young" playing in the background -- just heart-rendering. I have a great affinity with this kind of person, much as I do with Cassandra in Greek Legend and of course Jeremiah in Biblical Prophecy. I've shared a bit about the latter already in this web ministry effort, and part of my characteristic personality is being intensely attuned to World-vs-Kingdom kinds of things. Huh, I just heard for the first time when this year's US presidential election day is. November 5th. Huh. Didn't know that. Because as you know, "Remember remember the fifth of November, gunpowder treason and plot. For there is a reason why gunpowder and treason should ne'er be forgot." What does that mean? Does it mean that because they once tried to assassinate our beloved king by detonating a gazillion kegs of explosives under the Parliament building we'd better be sure that kind of thing just doesn't happen again by ferociously prosecuting those we all are told did it? And if anyone tries to do it again they know they'll get it right in the ----?! Or is it a reminder that any time a king even once even remotely even a little bit tries to be a ::gasp::  -- TYRANT  -- then we all know what to do? So don't forget it, okay, don't forget what they tell us needs to be done to keep the bad tyranny away...  In the great glorious name of DEMOCRACY!...

While I was channel surfing I came across a movie, I believe it was called Greenland , about a family's attempts to escape an extraterrestrial disaster of some kind, you know, meteors or asteroids hitting the earth and all. I don't know, I didn't hang around to see much of it. But one scene featured people watching events unfold on the television in a bar or restaurant. The news guy was reporting from somewhere, and sure enough a large fireball came from the sky and obliterated his location. As it always happens with these kinds of things, instantly the screen went fuzzy. Very scary. Here we are right in the middle of "Pride Month" and all who join in the celebration are oblivious to the gruesome lethality such an action carries with it. I'll never forget being in Salt Lake City for a professional commitment in the middle of June of 2018 and accidentally coming across a "Pride" parade, and while I was aghast at the breadth of immorality that was on display in this thing, it struck me that this was happening in Salt Lake City , bastion of Mormon morality and rightness and goodosity. Thing is this kind of pride not only destroys those who partake but those around them who absorb the ideas, the propaganda, the demonic nature of the now irreversibly pandemic endeavor. Many will say, "What does what we  do with our bodies have to do with you? The silence continues to be deafening, the volume quite intense. It'd be nice to have Jesus and His wisdom being widely broadcast, but those who say they're His seem to tarry. I do see some out there boldly sharing solidly truthful things, even at some cost to their reputation, their livelihoods... that's good -- it's what Jesus' call to agape  sacrifice was all about. But when watching the World System have its way with so many of its devotees, as it is with this coronavirus hysteria, wow, it is extraordinarily sad. They're  exceedingly vocal. I happened to come across this article , appearing the New York Times. It is about this app, Clearview AI, whereby you can just stick it at someone's face and find out quite a bit about them. While a lot can be said about this, one thing I thought is, if the Times is putting out the expose about it, what else is out there we don't even know about that is compromising our personal security? It does seem as though we've got to be in the very last days of the existence of this version of God's creation, it really does. When you see things like "the image of the Beast" in Revelation what else could it mean but the most sophisticated holographic augmented reality of a Caesarian character all are expected to worship? In my last blog post I wrote about the time just last month I watched John Lennox share Christ in a lecture hall of about a hundred people, young and old, at a prominent secular science college. I spoke about a couple of the key things he missed, and no disrespect, Lennox is an amazing apologist. I'd like to think afterwards many in the audience genuinely considered making Christ their Lord and Savior. Not sure, though. Not being cynical, I just want truth to reign. One of those other things Lennox missed is the fact that the concept of justice upon which he based a core part of his address is a scientific concept . Today the news reports are overflowing with information about the immolation of the Cathedral of Notre-Dame in Paris. Apparently most of the edifice was saved, but since the fire took some substantial parts and the images of the flames were so compelling, the coverage is comprehensive. Why? Why does this event get so much news coverage? People in various places are being victimized by murder, war, famine -- quite a bit around the globe, even today, right now -- yet, this is what is plastered before us on every news outlet. And the cries of lament from the broadcasters and those they are interviewing, pay attention to the language -- just the impressions of the magnitude of such an event. For a building. I was in Barnes and Noble tonight, doing the browsing thing which I love to do. I have a teacher's discount, so occasionally I'll pick up a book I'd like, as I did tonight. Couple of books caught my eye, and I may or may not read them. One was The Entitlement Cure  by John Townsend, who was quite the formidable influence on my young adult life, teaching me about bonding and boundaries. He's an extraordinarily wise man, and this latest looks like more of the same regarding something I've thought for quite some time. I did leaf through it a bit, though not much because I don't think it is quite right to read whole sections of a book that isn't purchased. The part I did see though confirmed what I thought. That when you think people owe you something, life is pretty miserable. Among those few words I caught were "entitlement pockets", meaning there are at least some  things we think we're owed no matter how gracious and deferential we are. I...

The race for the U.S. presidency is getting hotter and heavier, what with everyone hollering about which potential potentate to put into high office. It is Hillary vs. Donald in the main event! It is my consideration that it doesn't matter a whit who gets there, because that individual will always be a vibrantly dutiful Catholicist , indeed he/she  must  be if Cain's agency is to fulfill its divinely authorized obligations. Does this mean God has a hand in all of this? Many will say the Bible says, "God arranges everything Himself." This leads many to adopt the most rigid five-point Calvinist view and settle into a comfortably fatalistic perspective on things. Others will say "We have a role in how we decide how we are to live." This view certainly has extensive Biblical support, even though many Reformed would screech that this view is full of misinterpretations about what Scripture really  means. Just feel like blogging a bit of eschatology here. I just feel like it. I'm not a date-predictor by any means. But among the very last words in the very last couples of verses of the Bible are "Come quickly Lord Jesus." What a wonderful matter that will be. Thing is, here's what I see right now. I see Russia and China both moving big-time on a thoroughly destabilized Syria. I seem to remember some Christians with some reasonable eschatological sentiments saying that Russia is the "Gog/Magog" of Ezekiel and China represents the "Kings of the East." Israel has a powerful army and terrific security unit, and they are now mobilizing big-time in response to this. Some eschatological minds have thunk that the reason the U.S. does not play a part in last days prophecy is because it just isn't there . There's that bumper sticker, you know, "Stupidity Should Be Painful." I actually think it is painful, it's just so many stupid people simply smile through the agony. I saw a meme the other day, something along those lines, something like, "When you die, after you're dead you don't know you're dead and others have to feel the pain. It's the same thing with stupidity." I think that's the tragic part about stupid people. It's painful for them and  for others, and they don't even know it. I was reading tonight in the Word, and came across one of those several places where the Bible's version of these memes appears. Really, the Bible says a lot about stupidity. This one was originally in the sixth chapter of Isaiah. There it is again in the 13th chapter of Matthew: "People don't understand when they could understand, and they remain really stupid." My morning devotional time is now being spent reading the letters to the church in Corinth. I've always put forth those Scriptures as the text for my web ministry work , and getting into it again is just mind-blasting. Well, soul-blasting , really. It is phenomenal how much the Corinthian church mirrors the church today. Yesterday I heard a Christian-type dude on the Christian radio station say this,"2015 is the time for the church to start evangelizing the church ." After hearing this I just went  errgghnckrrrghnck  inside the depths of my psyche. That people have to say that and most Christianly people hearing that just about always think "Yupp, that's it, yupp we gotta get the church back to being Christian and all that." It is just so annoying because they've been saying this for eons and eons and eons. Sorry. 2015 won't be any different . Unless. Unless the church actually does something so radical, so revolutionary, so... Apoc...
