The Cold Civil War Rages On - More Guns Pointed at More Heads

Image
Recently a major professional sports player said some things that offended the woke hegemonic voices and forced their hand to proceed with the requisite cancellation. The team was holding one of its sadly now-quite-typical "Pride" celebrations, and he objected saying it was unrighteous. He did add that as a follower of Christ he could not in good conscience participate in such an event. Often players are expected to have rainbow-ish items added to their uniforms, and perhaps even spit up a good word about how much they respect the courage and experience of anyone embracing LGBTQ anything. Because the player said what he said, he was released from the team, and the team expressly and very publicly cited his remarks as the reason why, you know, "...for something-something detrimental to blah-blah." This has gotten some airplay in social media and throughout the sports commentariat. It hasn't been addressed so much in the mainstream legacy media, and I do believe t...

A Nation Under the Influence

Image
Back in the early to mid-1900s when the best Frankfurt School instructors started loudly pontificating about all the ways the exploited and oppressed can be used as tools for greater authoritarian hegemonic rule -- in the name of the grandest virtue-signaling, of course -- one of the most critical weapons they knew they needed to expropriate was the means of communication through the most watched mass media channels. You can see the effects of this now quite successful commandeering in the whole Olympics thing. It is presumed that just about everyone watches the Olympics. I know there are a few who don't, and I happen to be one of them. Just to share, the last time I watched any of it was in 1976, and I do confess it was fun to see people like Nadia Comaneci and Bruce Jenner do the things they did. I just happened to enjoy (again the video put up on social media so I couldn't not look) watching cap-wearing Dave Wottle's comeback run for the gold in that long track race in ...

The Successor Ideology is the Same as the Predecessor Ideology

Image
Uber-journalist Matt Taibbi has introduced us to an interesting concept invented by one, Wesley Yang , referring to the real substance of the revolutionary leftist takeover of the American culture. Everyone screeching about the horrors of Critical Race Theory  are really just being drawn into a battle they cannot win. Of course they cannot win it. It is because God is permitting it to proceed. If God wasn't, it wouldn't be happening. Does evil come from God? Of course not. But that's just the point. The evil comes from the hearts of unrepentant humans whose savior is the Successor Ideology or the Predecessor Ideology, whichever one. It is scripturally established that God may very well send sword, famine, or pestilence to a nation that turns against His law, but that is not Him, it is them . The only way they can see the extent of their evil is to see the consequences of that evil. Then perhaps the repentance. The Successor Ideology, by the way -- at least from what I can ...

The Book of Eli and the Kingdom Cancel Culture

Image
There are two motion pictures that have half-hour long conclusions that I have seen dozens of times. I don't watch or even remember much of the regular bulk of those films because they are far too crushingly depressing, but that is some of why those particular segments are so transcendently transformative. The films are The Shawshank Redemption  and The Book of Eli . Not going to get into Shawshank  right now, and if you know the film and know the substance of that last half-hour or so, you know. You may be like me with tears flowing from my soul as Red settles into his seat for that bus ride to the border. Same thing with The Book of Eli . When that brand new makeshift printing press on Alcatraz Island is printing up those pages, my soul just streams those tears. But again, it isn't just the divinely powerful redemptive quality of the story, it is the contrast to the pure evil. In and around the completion of Eli's mission there at the end, we see Carnegie consummating his...

The Story of Annie

The very first Rick and Morty episode I saw was one that I'd seen had received some notoriety as one of the best of all the episodes so far. It was called "Total Rickall," and its acclaim is indeed well-deserved. Rick comes into the dining room and is met at the table by his family who are sharing fond memories with Uncle Steve. After a moment Rick takes out a blaster weapon of some kind and blows away Uncle Steve. Everyone is horrified. Turns out "Uncle Steve" is really just an alien capable of not only making itself look like someone familiar but implanting memories in your brain about that someone in order for you to believe you've been delightfully acquainted with them for quite some time. Through the episode we see many of these creatures appear in the home of Rick's family and carry on as devoted family members and friends, but because of the implanted memories it is hopelessly impossible to distinguish who is who. It is an outstanding premise and...

The Necessary Corruptocracy

Image
About as good a description of Cain's legacy of the most ferociously proficient law enforcement is at Robert Morse' blog Straight Line Logic . Everything about it is so dead-on solid, except for the very last two paragraphs. Oh he's got the freedom part right, but wrong Freedom. Every one of these tomes end with "Ya just gotta get up and claim your American freedoms again dammit!" I do think Gore does get it, and he may very well personally know Who that Real Freedom actually is. That's fine. Don't misunderstand however. The Necessary Corruptocracy must operate as it must because the nation's populace asks it to do so. It doesn't matter what happens Tuesday, Trump or Biden (or really, Harris) the culture war will rage even more explosively. With so much reprobation woven into the fabric of Americanist life it will not abate. This may not necessarily be bad because God will use it to accomplish His purposes in some way. For you see, the Freedom is ...

Juneteenth, Pride, and Summer Solstice

Image
What a weekend for the System's provocations. One of the most important functions of Cain's legacy is to stir rebellion in its nation's inhabitants. And this weekend may likely be the most pronounced celebration of that significant activity. Today you have a commemoration of the final announcement of emancipation made after the Civil War ended in April 1865. This is unquestionably a fine thing, emancipation, liberation respected by the authorities, the official end of slavery. The questionable part of this abruptly expanded version is how much this holiday is being used to browbeat white people with the idea that they are still racist and they need to do a lot of explaining, including how much they must hand over large portions of their wealth to make amends. Look at the kinds of demonstrations the Juneteenth promoters will have today. Legions of progressively minded folks with serious rebel streaks (the irony) hitting the streets furiously shouting and waving signs ...

The School of Fear is Having Its Day, Addendum

"You asked, 'Who is this that obscures my plans without knowledge?' Surely I spoke of things I did not understand, too wonderful for me to know." This blog effort is titled Wonderful Matters because of the words in the 131st Psalm, but these words from Job apply just as much. Too often we try to figure out things without the full counsel of God, and I am often quite guilty of that. That is Job confessing to God there about something God told Job after he and his friends just spent thirty-plus chapters in the book spouting about things God has not said or done. Oh they got some of it right. Job and his friends do bring up a few things that are legitimate concerns about life and reasonable thoughts about the way things are. But for the most part we just don't know what God is doing with whatever it is that is happening out there . The reason I am all about wonderful matters in spite of that truth, is that even though: God has indeed let us in on many of His w...

God Loves Us So Much He Lets Us See the Consequences of Our Sin In All Its Horror

Image
In a post a little while back I made a remark about praying for my enemies, and also praying for the mitigation of the effects of what legitimately powerful potentates do. I've thought a bit about that statement, the one about praying that people wouldn't suffer so much for the things they ask their lords to do. I've actually thought, huh, that may not be the best thing to pray for. Huh?  Now I know as you may know that praying for the very best for anyone is not a bad thing at all, I got that. The prayer is one of magnanimity, really, and who wouldn't want that spoken prayer on their behalf, I got it. I do want the ultimate best for anyone, and will always pray for that. But I look at what God does in Scripture.  His  ways are light years and light years beyond ours. It is so amazing what He does, even though the seasoned humanist would viciously revile such a move. But God has His reasons, perfectly just and righteous when you look carefully and get a real underst...

Deliverance

Image
I'd read a devotional the other day that was pretty basic, but sobering. It made the point that the only sure thing in life is judgment and Hell. Once we accept that fact, then life becomes tolerable in that God by His grace and lovingkindness extend to us deliverance from that harrowing destiny. But what about those who don't care about that God business? What about those who simply have different beliefs than you do? Are you being mean and telling them they're going to Hell -- how mean! Well, ahem. The truth does hurt sometimes. I happened to catch the terrific 1972 film Deliverance  on the classic movie channel the other day. The last time I watched it was probably some 30 or 40 years ago. I'd remembered most of the substance plot and character-wise, but wow. What an eye-opener as to the magnitude of its meaning. Really, I'd finally gathered why it was titled such. Four stunningly naive and presumptuous men coming to terms with as horrifying a nightma...

The Reigning Dead

"All who hate [wisdom], love death." I couldn't find a more striking, more succinct, more revelatory bit of literature than that little piece right there to describe the World right now. Or ever . It is the 36th verse in the eighth chapter of Proverbs, by the way, and the only reason I bring it up is because I want to blog very briefly right now about something I heard today that was pretty astounding. Even though the principles are timeless and wise people live by them, I just thought it was quite profound. I listen to Rush Limbaugh every once in a while, very infrequently in fact, but I do like him and his courage to say things straight up. I don't agree with everything he says, but I'm not getting into that. I do actually see that most of what he shares is indeed insightful, compelling, and yes, extraordinarily reflective of truthful things . Since I've been home doing my teaching with an online platform, I listened to a very small segment of his in w...
