The Modern-Day Baroque - The Nicest Window-Dressing Ever

Image
Do you remember in your college humanities class learning about the Baroque period, that time around the 1600s when everything belonging to the rich and powerful became garishly ornate? All the art, design, architecture, and music just got so much more decoratively entrancing. If you remember the details about why that all happened at that time, it was really all just part of the Counter Reformation, a way for the Roman Catholic Church to augment its performance art duties in the most attractive way it could. For if you remember the Reformation  Reformation, Rome noticed a lot of people reading the Bible and seeing God's Kingdom was nothing like what Rome told them it was. So, to rein them back in, Rome had to do something to make things more appealing, more dazzling, more compelling to keep them in the club and paying good money to keep the religious racket thriving.  All the spectacle of all that Rome has promoted through the centuries is no different than what happens in th...

Though You Grind a Fool in a Mortar...

Image
There is another striking Proverb, this one the 22nd in the 27th chapter, that says it doesn't matter how much you shake a fool's head and tell him or her "Stop it," the folly still remains. Bam . The only deliverance is The  Deliverance, Jesus Christ. To see with His eyes and understand with His mind. That's it.  Otherwise, fools are going to do folly. I can't help but share the latest of the World idiocy out there, these just some of the most shining examples. There are so many, but these are pretty rich. One, some large presumably well-respected athletic organization established a competitive event of some kind as "open enrollment." The idea I am sure is to avoid all the ruckus about men-pretending-to-be-women competing in women's events, just make it so anyone who wants can join up: men, women, non-binary, anyone free-to-be-who-they-want-to-be-hey-we're-all-extra-tolerant-here -- and then it will all be fair and open and wonderful. Umm......

Uploading the Conscience

Image
Just wanted to post briefly to share an interesting piece from one of the top people at American Mind , apparently a transcript of his testimony at a congressional hearing. Still appealing to Caesar, typical. But the substance of what he said is worth noting. He points out that many people believe The Algorithm  will ultimately save us, and he warns against that idea. I'd written about this very thing several years ago here in this homepage piece at my webzine . What I'm sharing isn't anything novel for those who're paying attention. And there're hundreds of takes on all this stuff out there -- What does AI really mean today?  kinds of things. They're everywhere. They pretty much say the same thing -- maybe they'll try to be really edgy, sound prophetically insightful. That's cool. The interesting thing about this particular writer's piece is in this quote: "Rather than trying to upload our consciousness to the cloud, our new cyborg theocrats h...

It's ALL Abuse of Power

Today at the impeachment hearings television personality attorney Jonathan Turley said something I thought was quite profound. The reality show House Democrats have been moving full-speed ahead with kicking arch nemesis Donald Trump out of office, and it has indeed been a circus. Today the "witnesses" at the Judiciary Committee hearing were not actual witnesses who could testify to an actual crime, but rather legal scholars from top universities appearing merely to lecture everyone about how very very very much they believe Trump is so very very very bad that he just has to be impeached because they are so very very very smart about all the law stuff involved. Anyway, Turley was the one professor who actually shared the most meaningful things. Still, those things don't detract from the fact that all  of it was just World System machination machinery. Anyone's  appearance -- hey, even my mention of it here  -- is really just a way to give the whole benighted en...

Walk for Life Epiphany Redux

There was a Walk-For-Life event we had planned to attend -- we'd even gotten a few pledges. We're not going mostly because we've had other things arise. I had actually wanted to go just to see what happened there, not as much to be a part of ending abortion. These things don't end abortion. They may even make it so there'll be more of them, at best there won't be any change. In the U.S. in 2017 there were about 900,000 abortions.  In 2018 there were again about 900,000 abortions. How many Walk-For-Life events were there in that time? How many crisis pregnancy fundraising dinners were there? How many pro-life rallies and marches were there, in that given year's time period there? And how come nothing changes? In fact there are 40 million abortions every year worldwide. Did you get that number? 40 million babies die at the hands of their own mothers and fathers every year.  When I look at that my heart breaks yet again. I'm sure all the Walk-For...

The Big Troll, Part II

Image
Recently some news has been coming out that this vicious new Congresswoman widely known as AOC has gotten a bit of negative attention about something questionable her main handler did with some money. This is the woman who is generally ridiculed for having a noticeable dearth of functioning brain cells, yet there are quite a few who through the tears of laughter still wonder how in the world she could possibly be getting the rock star attention she does. What has been happening behind the scenes may also help explain why she is so vicious. See, this webzine ministry commitment has always been to follow not as much the money  but rather the handlers , that is, those who really work the ones most visibly shoved out in the mainstream to vibrantly sustain Cain's legacy. It is a bit more of a task to look beyond them  to their handlers , but it can be done. Ultimately you'll always get to those doing work in the Society of Jesus, composed of the authorized World Operatives u...

Patty Murray is Quite an Honest Individual Actually

"We have no king but Caesar." Recently the U.S. Senate proposed a post-birth infant protection bill. "Committing infanticide is against the law" it pretty much says. It seems to have come forward after a governor in a state that pretty much allows abortion through all nine months of a pregnancy waffled about what to do if a partial-birth abortion failed and the baby was born alive. Should the parents be consulted about whether or not to keep the infant alive or utilize the pillow? When the Senate holds a "unanimous consent" vote, all that has to happen for the resolution to pass is for no one to object. You don't even have to go on the record, as a Senator you just don't have to say anything and the thing goes right on through. Yeah, huh. Cain's domain. Pretty nasty. Well, most Senators thought this would be a slam dunk. Who in their right mind would object to something enshrined into official federal ordinance that would protect a baby a...

"Impeach the M----------r!"

Recently a new Congresswoman inaugurated her term with a quite celebrated commitment to begin her federal government work by moving on impeaching Donald Trump, or as she called him, that "m----------r!" Why of course Trump is a m----------r! He's racist, he's uncouth, he's chauvinistic, he's imbecilic, and of course he's an angry old white male. "Why of course!!!"  we're all supposed to gleefully affirm. Thing is, when this young lady, Rashida Tlaib from a district that includes part of Detroit, calls Trump a m----------r! is she herself perfectly absolved from being one herself? If you're going to call someone a name, better be sure you can't be guilty of the same. Seems to me Jesus said something similar, something along the lines of "Let she who is not a m----------r! cast the first m----------r! slur." She is wedded to the Democrat party, and as such I presume -- though forgive me if I am wrong -- a progressive libe...

Your Human Sacrifice Representative on the Job

Image
I just had to put in a brief blog post about this past Sunday's Pearls Before Swine  strip. You should read the whole thing to get the idea, but these two frames are golden. They nicely elucidate in very graphic detail what exactly happens when World devotees go bananas enlisting fine smiley articulate well-groomed agents of Cain to try to make things the way they want things to be around them. Again, it doesn't matter who it is . Donald Trump or Nancy Pelosi. Jerome Powell or your friendly mortgage lender. Pope Francis or the fiery pithy minister at the non-profit church next door. It. Doesn't. Matter. Revere them revile them embrace them crusade for them want them assassinated in the most cruel way It. Doesn't. Matter. Your allegiance is fully with them to do the job of Lordship in your life. Scripture makes it pretty plain. So many don't get it, but here's the truth. You may think you're pretty cool (don't worry, I do too) but yo...

It Is Always About Your God

On September 24, 2015, the pope of the Roman Catholic Church spoke to the entire U.S. Congress in the House of Representatives chamber. He was received with ravishing applause, and as he spoke the then-Speaker of the House and top Republican leader John Boehner blubbered. The very day after this event Boehner not only resigned his Speaker position but left the Congress all together. This was portrayed as nothing but a minor political calculation, something similar to "I want to spend more time with my family", and was summarily dismissed as of no matter by just about everyone. I'm pretty sure I know why Boehner bolted, and while I'm pretty sure some could see this, I saw no one write or speak about it. The pope, a seasoned Jesuit, very eloquently made the case that the U.S. government needed to get off its ass and start helping people more -- way more, because there was this disadvantaged person and that disadvantaged person and think of the suffering. Boehner...

"Come Quickly Lord Jesus"

Just feel like blogging a bit of eschatology here. I just feel like it. I'm not a date-predictor by any means. But among the very last words in the very last couples of verses of the Bible are "Come quickly Lord Jesus." What a wonderful matter that will be. Thing is, here's what I see right now. I see Russia and China both moving big-time on a thoroughly destabilized Syria. I seem to remember some Christians with some reasonable eschatological sentiments saying that Russia is the "Gog/Magog" of Ezekiel and China represents the "Kings of the East." Israel has a powerful army and terrific security unit, and they are now mobilizing big-time in response to this. Some eschatological minds have thunk that the reason the U.S. does not play a part in last days prophecy is because it just isn't there . With a completely arrogant, incompetent president and a stunningly spineless, impotent Congress I'm beginning to see some truth there. I seem...

Seeds From the Evil One, Still Sprouting

Image
I live in California where we are told if we water our lawns we're evil. Never mind that residential use makes up a piddle (puddle?) amount of the water used in the state. Sure we need most of that water for agricultural purposes -- we all eat. But I'm also great with reasonable conservation activity. On the corner of my street a homeowner with a perfectly beautiful front lawn decided to drink the Kool-Aid, however, and tear up that lawn and install other more "drought-friendly" landscaping. Why?  Even with incentive rebates (which are not a whole lot, let's face it, and I'm pretty sure that money dried up a while ago) I just can't see why so many people are buying into the overblown anti-drought message. Oh, wait, I know. People still live in the deepest guilt with the most crushing shame. Hey! How about becoming more drought-tolerant! That'll make me feel way better! I'm fascinated with Jesus' parable about the seed-sower. There in ...

Critical Mass II

"What we really really really really really need is stability ." This was the word resounding through the halls of the World System today, rationalizing more institutionally sanctioned deceit to keep people convinced the value extraction machine will keep humming as usual. Never mind that very few people are saying what we really need, a bazillion times more important than stability. Truth . I saw a sign outside a church that had one of those pithy sayings on it. This one was "It is more important to be kind than to be right." I know why this is so touching, believe me, I got that. But it is an idiotic statement . After ruminating on it I thought, "Hmm, isn't it more important to be right about kindness?" The World System is right about how much it must use law enforcement to crack heads. So when the Democrats succeed in passing legislation to keep the borrowing for summary head-cracking to continue, to keep THE government going so it is...

Is The Restrainer Getting Ready to Leave?

I felt like jotting down some thoughts here in my blog, just some of the things I see happening that sadden me actually. A lot of things sadden me, but one of the most visceral is beholding the rank evil that people do. Yeah yeah that's not saying much, because people are always doing evil to one another. What really presses hard against my soul is how much they do it behind bright smiles and splendid good deeds. And yeah yeah yeah, people have been doing it for millennia, so what of it. Yeah, guess I shouldn't hurt so much about it. But I still do . And I think I hurt so much about it when people just shrug it off as standard practice. As something to resign oneself to endure because it's been going on for so long. Or just as reprehensible: as something to smother in the sweet vanilla frosting of wholesome religion or nice good-deed-doing or that putridly fake righteousness that is often blurted as "I'm not perfect you're not perfect so let's just deal w...

I Thought There Was Supposed to Be Less Violence

Yesterday in my newspaper was a report about some hostages being roughed up by some mean dudes in some mall incident. Sounded like there was a bit of physical violence involved, but I don't think anyone was killed. Thing is, I'd just finished a book by Harvard professor Steven Pinker that said we've got less violence going on all around right now. Hmm. I'd also heard a report about the total abortion numbers last year. Over 300,000. Simply doing the math, that's just under 1,000 babies being torn from their mother's wombs every day . I can't believe there isn't a little bit of violence involved there. But... I thought there was supposed to be less violence? At the end of the year I'd heard a news report that Chicago reached 500 homocides in its city for 2012. They made it sound like that number was a bad thing. Meanwhile New York's was a relatively low 400-something. They made it sound like that was a good thing, because it wasn't as ...

The Not-So Steep Fiscal Cliff After All

So, the day after the new U.S. Congress was sworn in, did that intrepid articulate Republican step up to the plate and deliver the message that would save America? You know, the one about slashing spending to move people to take care of their own, about slashing taxes at the same time so more of the nation's wealth could be spent on and invested in things the people themselves could choose and make happen by virtue of their own hard work? No? I didn't think so. I knew it wouldn't happen. What is very sad is that so few understand what more and more and more temporal government means. It just means there are just as few who are willing to love one another and do productive things out of that love. So many need Cain's agency. No matter what they say, they need Cain to minister his condemnation in their lives. So many laws and rules and regulations. So much management of the value of a populace pretending to love but only terrified deep inside. But this is the way it...

How to Avoid the Effects of the Fiscal Cliff

So the fiscal cliff is so catastrophic because it represents automatic spending cuts and tax increases in order to shrink the deficit? Which means that the federal government is forcing itself to refuse to spend money on things they can't afford and at the same time expect American taxpayers to pay for the things they demand from said government? How can that be bad? Well, it's bad because soooo many depend on all that government spending for their livelihood in some fashion. And because soooo many depend on government not taxing them for them to spend their money on the things they'd like to spend it on. And as a result, there'll be pain. Except that I've heard Congress and the president are apparently hammering out a deal that would keep those triggers from kicking in, so that we can still have the spending and not have to pay for it, at least for now. Yay! Super Obama swoops down and grabs us as we proverbially plummet to the earth! Yaaay! Still, tho...
