I was checking out The Matrix  again last night -- yes, I'd already seen it a few times. I really like the scene when Morpheus explains everything to Neo, much because the comes-the-dawn moment is the overarching goal of every follower of Christ in sharing the gospel with someone. Neo does take a bit of a leap of faith in swallowing the red pill, but that indeed is a lot of it -- a trope that has become quite common as you may well know. Want to know reality, really ? Then take the red pill. The problem is that so many believe that revelation from the red pill's effects only comes with identifying and embracing the proper conspiracy theories. The idea is you can BE FREE! once you understand what the Rothschilds have done or the Council on Foreign Relations has done or the CIA has done and is still doing and on and on and on and on and on  ad nauseam.  Now there is the AI to help you see. When I was a kid and I was out and about with my family, we might see someone doing something painfully unusual, often it was willfully displaying large parts of their unclothed body in public (sometimes it was their entire body!) My mother would almost always instruct us that this individual was an exhibitionist , and she explained. These kind of people have a pathological need to do something like that to gain attention, to elicit some kind of response from others -- they are terribly insecure and wounded individuals who must act out in attempt to cover for that. Today you hear about such individuals as being narcissistic , but I think that is not quite as good a descriptive term as exhibitionist. By virtue of the definition derived from the original mythology, a narcissist should be happy spending the day looking at his or her image in the mirror. Just wanted to post briefly to share an interesting piece from one of the top people at American Mind , apparently a transcript of his testimony at a congressional hearing. Still appealing to Caesar, typical. But the substance of what he said is worth noting. He points out that many people believe The Algorithm  will ultimately save us, and he warns against that idea. A reminder of one of those Truth Rules: Everything is religion . Sure everything has to do with politics because we're always working through how we can get along with others. That's fine. Sure everything has to do with economics because we're always valuing things and making decisions about those things. That's fine too. Here's the thing, though. Why  do we do any  of those things? It has everything to do with the character of the one we worship. And really, it comes down to only two. Are you worshipping God in Spirit and in Truth as Jesus asked us back in that fourth chapter of John's gospel? Or are you worshipping that Principality manifesting himself as any of a hundred different objects of worship, all of them forms of Jesus to provide something  that someone believes is that ultimate  raison d'etre? The first amendment of the United States Constitution firmly declares that people have a right to refuse to worship the object of the country's officially established religion. Oh I know it says the United States shall not have  an official religion, but it does. The newest denomination of that religion is the one that declares that the authorized way to worship the state's god is to swath one's countenance with a cloth covering of some kind. The rationale for such a piously celebrated action is that it prevents germs from moving out and about. The claim that science justifies it is preposterous because it conclusively does not , thus, it is religion. Everything is religion anyway, so it is completely understandable. I recently came across this piece about renowned pastor Tim Keller announcing that we really shouldn't be so mean. Jesus wasn't mean, so we shouldn't either. The piece does a terrific job of calling out Keller for his misunderstanding of Scripture and Who Jesus Is. The rampaging leftist hegemony is all about ruthless enforcement of its "anti-mean" mandates. No meanness in that at all. Coca-Cola was shredded a new aye-hole itself for insisting people be "less white," which to them means "less arrogant" (you mean unlike the arrogance of your assumptions about others' own personal sentiments about race?), "less certain" (you mean unlike the certainty that what you're telling us right now is true and not totally bat-shit crazy?) and "less defensive" (you mean unlike your ferocious defense of these racialist principles you are shoving in our faces now?) About as good a description of Cain's legacy of the most ferociously proficient law enforcement is at Robert Morse' blog Straight Line Logic . Everything about it is so dead-on solid, except for the very last two paragraphs. Oh he's got the freedom part right, but wrong Freedom.
