Wonderful Matters

Out on my walk I came upon a nice looking young couple from behind -- the woman pushing a stroller and the man walking a dog on a leash. I thought, how nice, they've got a small child... until the gal turned around and the stroller was empty. It was for the dog . The dog then hopped in and the couple then went back the other way. This is just an anecdotal story and this couple may be planning to have children or they may even have them back home being watched by grandma while they are out. They may also be unable to have children for whatever reason, but it makes me think about how many young adults hypnotized by the Frankfurt School dogma are swearing off having children because of things like their perceptions of climate change or the bothersome intrusions of the oppressive heteropatriarchy. I really thought I should add some more thoughts to a post I put up a couple days ago that could easily be called "The Die Hard  Factor." I'd mentioned the movie Die Hard was so compelling because the filmmaker did a fine job of showcasing some phenomenally stupid people, and I believe a big part of that was their skill in portraying them in all their self-absorbed exhibitionist glory. "Look at how danged smart I am while I go full bore into something mindbogglingly stupid that will likely end in my demise!..." Ouch. Earlier this week an NHL player refused to go out for warm-ups before a game because it was "Pride Night" at the arena and the team wanted him to wear some rainbow kind-of thing with the rest of the team. Of course the expected showcased ferocious remonstrations followed. He was dragged out before microphones and cameras and firmly asked to 'splain himself -- same song-&-dance. As usual with these kinds of things he responded with the typical blather: "My religion prevents it," whereupon everyone could be assured that that  religion is indeed a backwoods bigoted intolerant racist sexist homophobic craptastic Neanderthal religion that is perfectly fine for a lout like this  player to have but not us smart thoughtful tolerant enlightened progressive people. There's a show on the NBC network called American Greed . Every episode showcases some crook who'd spent years hoodwinking a whole bunch of people, separating them from gobs of their money in sometimes very insidiously imaginative ways. The show's appeal also comes with the inevitable instances when they do something tremendously stupid leading to their prosecution in some form or another. It is certainly greed that is involved, but a far worse crime is the deeper motivating force: pride. This is the idea that virtue-signaling out of one's rear end is too intoxicating never mind what kinds of immoralities must be in the mix to do that. While I was channel surfing I came across a movie, I believe it was called Greenland , about a family's attempts to escape an extraterrestrial disaster of some kind, you know, meteors or asteroids hitting the earth and all. I don't know, I didn't hang around to see much of it. But one scene featured people watching events unfold on the television in a bar or restaurant. The news guy was reporting from somewhere, and sure enough a large fireball came from the sky and obliterated his location. As it always happens with these kinds of things, instantly the screen went fuzzy. Very scary. I saw a brief part of a news piece on the television that showed a poll result: 60% of Americans care most about the economy, while only 20% think it is abortion. The message the System spokesholes want us to put deep into our craniums: Get with it. Abortion is just not that big a deal. The economy is. Ahem . The abortion thing IS the economy . As long as we fail to get down the transcendent meaning about what it means to be a human being and what it is to have a family and be in a family with a mother as a woman and father as a man fulfilling their God-ordained roles, then the economy means squat . Tonight on a television news talk show was a clip of US Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg making the claim -- in spiffily rhetorical overtones, but very clear nonetheless -- that solving the country's problems with outdated infrastructure and air travel cancellations and auto travel congestion and of course racism and climate change was for women to be sure their now endangered reproductive rights were not under any threat that they'd be in danger or anything.
